Paper entries close in two weeks on 29th July, on line entries close in three weeks on 5th August.

They need to get animals registered in good time in order to get them entered into the event.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for what we hope will be another very successful event.   The new cattle building is now open and in full use, there will also be much more space for MV and Scrapie Monitored sheep which will be housed just inside the new building, adjoining the sheep building.

Paper entry forms are also available –  please do let us know if you need one, or if would like to put one or your own web site.

We will be sending out the catalogue proofs on 10th August and would be grateful if you could please get these back to us by 17th so we can put the final document together and go to press on 22nd.

Please remember that each Breed Society is responsible for any inspectors, show stewards judges and rosettes if you have inspections or show classes.

Phil Pennington

We are very sad to report that Phil has died.  The group sends deepest sympathy to Jo, Kate and all the family.

Phil has been a stalwart of the breed for many years, breeding, showing and judging. He was a founder member of the Breeders’ Group when it was formed in 1994.

Rams – 24.10.17(1)

As of 24/10/17 there were 205 registered rams (33 ram lambs), 183 birth notified rams (92 ram lambs), 2327 registered ewes (184 ewe lambs) and 598 birth notified ewes (216 ewe lambs).

Attached is a list of all the live males – 98 active (having sired lambs in the last three years) and 287 non active. Only 54 sired offspring in 2017 (siring 525 registered / birth notified lambs).

Surely some of the yellow ones are dead? If they are yours – please kill them off!

Message from Libby and Grassroots – don’t forget to notify your lambs and register anything going to the tup (including your tups) this year, before the end of the OCTOBER. NB Prices are going up on the 1st December! Also please do your survey and confirm who is alive, dead or those that you have and are no longer in your flock. Thank you 🙂
RBST Combined Flock Book FINAL REMINDER – 2017

The RBST Combined Flock Book closes at the end of this month and will be prepared for the printers in the first week of November. This will include all sheep registered in 2017 and the survey returns for the National flock.

If you have not yet sent in your return please do so as soon as possible. The survey is a very important part of our work and ensures that the RBST has accurate population figures for you breed. The results are published in the Flock Book and take into account your survey return including all the animals birth notified, registered, sold and logged as dead up to the end of October.

Paper reminders were sent out in the post last week.
Have You Logged your 2017 born lambs
All lambs should be logged in the year they are born.
Notification is FREE OF CHARGE

Small Increase in registry fees

The RBST, working with Grassroots Systems, has held the registry fees at the same level for 14 years. There will now be a small increase, to take affect from 1st December 2017.

There will be an increase of:
50p for females registered by post = £5.60 Inc VAT each

40p for females registered via the web =
£4.00 Inc VAT for Boreray, Castlemilk, North Ronaldsay and Whitefacted Woodland
£5.00 Inc VAT for Manx, Norfolk, Portland, and Soay
£5.60 for Soays registered in the USA and Canada.

And £1 for rams =
£10.70 Inc VAT for rams registered via the web
£11.70 for rams registered by post.

Birth Notification and Transfers will continue to be processed free of charge.

Gransden Show results

 Congratulations to Neil, Jilly, Hamish and Katie Beaton who won the championship at the Gransden show, at our last show of the year, with their shearling ewe – Sandons Geranium (daughter of Wretton Cato N9793 and Sandons ewe N11467).  Congratulations to Iain and Laura Stephen who won the reserve champion with Wretton Kevin their ram lamb. Sired by Abercarron Hammond N11729 and out of Wretton Hermione N13009.
